TL;DR

Principal Architect (5G): Architecting mobile backhaul and satellite solutions for BT/EE's mobile transport network with an accent on driving technical direction, new technology integration (xhaul, Centralised RAN, LEO satellite), and network improvements. Focus on defining large-scale complex carrier networks, assessing new mobile technologies, and leading vendor engagement to steer capabilities.

Location: Hybrid role, expected in office 3 days a week. Must be based in London, Manchester, Ipswich or Bristol.

What you will do

  • Architect Mobile Xhaul (front-haul, mid-haul, back-haul) and Satellite use within BT’s networks, setting technical direction.
  • Lead technical input for joint ventures providing access services and define strategy/architecture.
  • Lead analysis of new mobile technology impact to establish use cases and define BT’s roadmap.
  • Own and regularly review the mobile xhaul capacity requirements model.
  • Communicate mobile architecture as a subject matter expert, internally and externally, representing BT to the industry.
  • Lead vendor engagement to define BT requirements and steer vendor capabilities.

Requirements

  • Extensive industry expertise in mobile architecture and IP network domains.
  • Detailed knowledge of the telecommunications industry, especially strategic developments impacting mobile and xhaul domains.
  • Experience specifying and designing mobile transport networks.
  • Experience defining and implementing large-scale complex carrier networks.
  • Ability to assess new technologies and recommend their impact on BT infrastructure, product, and services.
  • Technology-related degree or higher level qualification.

Nice to have

  • Experience specifying and designing solutions using LEO and GEO satellites.
  • Network of industry contacts to promote BT as an industry leader.
