Principal Product Engineer (Data Center Digital Twin, Power)

Principal Product Engineer (Data Center Digital Twin, Power): Developing and optimizing a data center software platform with an accent on power infrastructure, power standards, and simulating usage/availability/failure mechanisms. Location: San Jose, CA. This position is based in San Jose and will include office time. Candidates must be comfortable working independently during non-overlapping hours with global remote colleagues.

Salary: $136,500–$253,500 annually (California).

What you will do

• Collaborate with customers and industry to identify software feature gaps.
• Design and specify product enhancements for software engineering.
• Support sales engagements, especially for power simulation.
• Provide 2nd line product support for key customers.
• Contribute to software product quality and documentation.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge on both technology landscape and the data center industry.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience in technical science or engineering.
• 3+ years’ recent experience with data center power systems.
• 3+ years’ recent experience in a customer-facing role.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and analytical thinking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and Secure Development Lifecycle principles.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in power calculations including 3 Phase AC, DC power.
• Understanding of challenges due to AI power loads (inferencing/training/failures).
• Prior experience of single line diagrams and power monitoring telemetry such as BMS/EMS.
• Experience in a product role or the data center industry.
