Company

hirify.global is a remote-first company building great software by supporting, trusting, and growing its people within a friendly and down-to-earth team.

What you will do

  • Lead and improve back-end systems, writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested PHP using Symfony.
  • Take ownership of parts of the platform and contribute to architectural decisions and refactoring strategies.
  • Help define how software is built, balancing pragmatism with long-term maintainability in legacy environments.
  • Identify and fix pain points in tooling, testing, or workflows, championing sensible standards and automation.
  • Support and mentor other developers through code reviews and discussion.
  • Communicate clearly about technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs with delivery managers, testers, designers, and frontend developers.

Requirements

  • Must be UK-based.
  • Strong working experience in PHP, OOP, and design principles (SOLID, patterns, clean code).
  • Experience with legacy systems, MySQL, relational data modelling, and thoughtful API design/consumption.
  • Proficiency with modern tooling (Docker, Git, PHPStan, PHPUnit, CI/CD) and hands-on Symfony experience.
  • Focus on test strategy, quality, and incremental improvements, not just shipping features.
  • Collaborative and mentoring mindset, willing to learn from others.

Culture & Benefits

  • Dedicated space and time for refactoring, improving tests, and fixing root causes.
  • Regular technical discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and autonomy in decision-making.
  • £500 annual personal development budget for learning, events, or certifications.
  • Competitive salary (up to £60,000) with annual performance-based reviews.
  • Flexible working hours, 34 days off (including Bank Holidays), plus birthday off.
  • Provided home office setup and regular in-person team days (Summer and Winter outings).
