Location: This role is hybrid (3 days in office) and can be based in either Manchester, Ipswich, or London, United Kingdom. SC Clearance eligibility is required for the role.

What you will do

• Design, build, and support VMware-based private cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to High Level and Low Level Designs aligned to architecture and engineering standards.
• Deploy and manage VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
• Operate and optimise compute and storage platforms, including performance, availability, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-severity infrastructure issues.
• Integrate compute platforms with NSX and underlay networks, collaborating with network and security teams.
• Drive standardisation and contribute to automation and infrastructure-as-code initiatives.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on infrastructure experience, including 2nd and 3rd line support.
• 3+ years of design experience.
• Strong operational and design expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Cloud Foundation.
• Experience with compute and virtualisation platform design and operation.
• Proficiency in storage technologies like vSAN or equivalents.
• Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals and data centre infrastructure.
• Experience producing High Level and Low Level Designs.
• SC Clearance eligibility is required.

Nice to have

• Automation and scripting experience (e.g., Ansible, Python).
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code approaches.
• Familiarity with regulated or multi-tenant environments.
• Cisco Compute Technologies experience.
