Project Engineer (Defense & Security)

TL;DR

Project Engineer (Defense): Leads and coordinates technical aspects for assigned engineering teams on defense programs with an accent on technical, cost, and schedule performance. Focus on improving existing processes, establishing new systems, and influencing leadership with new practices and approaches within the defense and security industry.

Location: Binghamton, NY. Must be U.S. citizens due to U.S. Government contract requirements. Ability to support occasional site travel (CONUS).

Salary: $144,300–$176,300

What you will do

• Perform as the technical lead for assigned engineering teams on programs.
• Lead/participate in program peer, gate, and design reviews, and support program management reviews (PMRs).
• Coordinate technical activity amongst program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
• Conduct weekly/monthly Cost Account Management (CAM) reviews with IPTs, responsible for technical, cost, and schedule performance.
• Improve existing processes or establish new systems using conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
• Communicate within and outside the organization to influence leadership on new practices, approaches, and concepts.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen due to U.S. Government contract requirements.
• BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum nine years of technical, project experience with Traditional and Agile Program Execution methods.
• Military or Defense industry experience.
• Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance granted or renewed in the last 5 years.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to employment.
• Experience with Clearcase, Clearquest, DOORs, and Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar.

Nice to have

• Experience within Modeling and Simulation industry.
• Experience performing as primary technical interface with DOD customers.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools (Atlassian, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker).
• Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
• Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools.
