Systems Security Engineer (Zero Trust)

TL;DR

Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity): Integrating complex systems and resolving technical challenges within the Zero Trust Leadership Cell (ZTLC) to support USSOCOM's Zero Trust transformation. Focus on developing integration patterns and applying Systems Security Engineering principles across cloud, hybrid, and tactical environments.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical liaison between the Chief ZT Architect and 12 IPlan teams, aligning efforts with the enterprise ZT Reference Architecture.
• Analyze and resolve complex cross-pillar integration challenges.
• Develop detailed architectural artifacts, including integration patterns, ICDs, and sequence diagrams.
• Provide expert-level augmentation to execution teams to resolve technical barriers and accelerate delivery.
• Develop and execute integration test plans and transition strategies for capability handoff to sustainment.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (required or pending verification)
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive IT / Cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in systems or security engineering and technical integration for enterprise-scale DoD systems.
• Demonstrated expertise across multiple technical domains.
• DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification (e.g., CASP+ CE, CISSP, CSSLP).

Nice to have

• Experience supporting USSOCOM or SOF missions.
• Cloud, networking, or identity certifications (AWS/Azure Specialty, CCNP/JNCIP, Okta, Ping, etc.).
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture (NIST 800-207) and DoD ZT Reference Architecture.
• Broad technical knowledge across ICAM, Network Security, Cloud Security, and Data Protection.
• Understanding of operational requirements in tactical edge / DIL environments.
