TL;DR
Silicon Photonics Validation Engineer (Silicon Photonics): Building and optimizing highly integrated component platforms with an accent on high-speed Silicon photonics, transmit/receive amplifiers, and embedded firmware. Focus on system-level testing, hardware, firmware, and control loop validation under various operating conditions, and productization from inception all the way to NPI.
Location: Onsite in Santa Clara, CA, USA. This position may require access to technology and/or software subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled information. Except for U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals, all applicants may be subject to an export license review process prior to employment.
Salary: $134,390–$201,300 per annum

What you will do
- Lead new products from inception through NPI as a Senior Staff Engineer for ’s optics DCI product line.
- Contribute to optical components development and validation for next-generation products.
- Collaborate closely with CAD and foundry process teams on photonics design flow and design automation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Digital/Analog Circuit designers, Signal/Power Integrity, and system design.
- Perform system-level testing under various operating conditions.
- Validate the performance of hardware, firmware, and control loops.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s/PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of silicon photonics, semiconductor physics, optical component validation, design, and fabrication.
- Proven record in high-speed photodetectors, high speed modulators, or other integrated waveguide devices.
- Hands-on experience validating optoelectronic components using automation equipment and performing data analysis.
- Familiarity with optical and electronic modeling/simulation software to design electro-optical devices and generate GDS level mask data.
- Ability to work with a large body of data, utilize statistical analysis tools, and present data effectively.
