What you will do

• Write regularly on consumer technology news, covering areas of expertise and general knowledge.
• Cultivate sources to develop original reporting within the tech industry.
• Collaborate on product coverage, event calendars, and story ideas with editors.
• Take photographs and edit images as appropriate for reviews and news coverage.
• Write occasional feature-length articles on in-depth topics.
• Help guide Ars’ technology coverage and integrate feedback from editors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of demonstrated writing and professional journalism expertise covering the technology industry.
• Deep expertise in at least one of the following: software development, DIY tech, cybersecurity, and/or free and open-source software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional organizational abilities.
• Willingness to work some early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as projects may require.
• Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative team player, and critical thinking ability.
• Good time management and self-starting ability for multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
