Senior Programmer (Game Development)

TL;DR

Location: This is an in-person, on-location in studio position in Melbourne, Australia. Must have working rights in Australia; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Design and implement new systems while improving existing ones in C++.
• Self-manage programming task schedules and coordinate with the production team.
• Fix bugs and maintain the existing Big Ant Engine code base.
• Analyze and resolve common game engine issues such as load times, memory usage, and performance problems.
• Collaborate with designers and artists to realize the game's vision.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of programming experience, ideally in the video game industry.
• Very good understanding of C++.
• Basic knowledge of game engine or middleware and associated pipelines.
• Familiarity with debugging tools, speed, memory considerations, and optimization principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have working rights in Australia.

Nice to have

• Experience on current generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One).
• Experience with scripting languages (Lua, Python).
• Good debugging skills.
