Validation Engineer

TL;DR

Validation Engineer: Developing and executing bench-level tests for pre-silicon emulation and post-silicon validation of mixed-signal audio chips with an accent on ensuring product functionality, performance, and identifying elusive bugs. Focus on developing automated test frameworks, debugging analog/digital silicon issues, and collaborating with design and systems engineers.

Location: On-site in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Must be based within commutable distance or willing to relocate to the UK prior to beginning employment.

What you will do

• Develop and execute bench-level tests according to validation plans during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
• Think beyond the datasheet and around design corners to find elusive bugs.
• Develop automated test frameworks and regression test suites in Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW.
• Collaborate closely with IC Design engineers, System engineers, and Application engineers.
• Perform circuit simulation to support board design and design PCB schematics.
• Debug analog/digital silicon issues, board issues, and Validation software/hardware tools issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field, or relevant proven experience.
• Proven background in FPGA-based emulation, synthesis, Verilog, and pre/post-silicon validation.
• Solid hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and audio analyzers.
• Sound electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital, power electronics, or audio engineering.
• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Experience in post-silicon validation, mixed-signal IP block design/validation, audio signal processing, power management, and algorithm development.
• Experience using simulation tools such as LTSpice.
• Proficiency in industry interface standards (I2C, SPI, USB, I2S, TDM).
• Experience in version control tools such as Git, SVN, and Perforce.
