Sr Site Reliability Engineer

TL;DR

Sr Site Reliability Engineer (DevOps/SRE): Build, operate, and scale systems in the Markets portfolio related to CME’s Globex trading platform with an accent on low-latency performance and rock-solid reliability. Focus on automation for deployment, scaling, and recovery while mentoring junior SREs and product team engineers.

What you will do

• Collaborate with SRE leadership and product development teams to define system reliability through SLIs and SLOs via user-journey distillations.
• Act as a partner to product teams, delivering observability, monitoring, and alerting improvements.
• Take accountability for delivery of significant changes, managing delivery risks and dependencies.
• Drive reliability backlog discussions with key stakeholders, identifying reliability risks and influencing prioritization.
• Lead major incident response investigations, ensuring system recovery, and leading post-mortems.
• Contribute to DR and systems resiliency testing & improvements.

Requirements

• Experience with Linux-based systems.
• Experience with Cloud-based platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform, GCE, and/or GKE.
• Strong coding capabilities in scripting languages like Python and Bash. Java is a bonus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills across disciplines.
• Adaptable and flexible, with a proactive approach towards change.

Nice to have

• Previous experience working in a DevOps or SRE role.
• Previous experience working with metrics & monitoring tools, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience and knowledge of working with distributed systems and working with Docker & Kubernetes.
