TL;DR

Principal UI/UX Designer (Gamedev): Driving internal and outsourcing UI/UX efforts for a new, unannounced IP with an accent on player flow, iconography, and graphic design. Focus on wireframing, prototyping, and implementing designs in Unreal Engine 5 within the context of multiplayer action game user experience and presentation.

Location: Remote. Our ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.

Salary: $160,000 - $165,000

What you will do

  • Design an effective user interface in a multiplayer action game.
  • Wireframe, sketch, prototype, test, and implement your work into Unreal Engine 5.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with key team members to achieve desired quality and champion user-centered design.
  • Drive external/outsourced UI/UX development and work with the internal team for implementation.
  • Maintain style guides, documentation, and other resources.
  • Mentor UI/UX team, helping them develop their skills and creativity by providing constructive feedback.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in AAA game development as a UI/UX designer and at least one shipped multiplayer online game, preferably a shooter.
  • 3+ years of experience in Unreal - Slate, MVVM, UMG.
  • Experience managing and working with outsource vendors for UI/UX.
  • Strong understanding of Unreal 5, Figma, Miro, and other tools needed for UI/UX art.
  • Ability to create AAA quality UI art assets (Icons, Animations, Fonts, etc) within the Adobe Suite and Figma.
  • Highly collaborative and able to identify gaps in communication and process.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of accessibility features and how to solve for them within the context of the project.
  • Programming experience (C++, C#, etc.) is a plus.
  • Passionate about shooter games and communicating core shooter feedback.
  • Knowledge and passion for online multiplayer shooters.
