Software Engineer (Mam)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (MAM): building and supporting robust REST API integrations to bridge MAM platforms with cloud storage and archive services with an accent on extract, normalize, and validate complex media metadata (stories, clips, and hierarchical objects) from AVID MAM systems using Python. Focus on building/operating services in AWS.

Location: Must overlap with Eastern Time.

What you will do

• Extract, normalize, and validate complex media metadata (stories, clips, and hierarchical objects) from AVID MAM systems using Python.
• Build and support robust REST API integrations to bridge MAM platforms with cloud storage and archive services.
• Troubleshoot high-stakes failures in media pipelines, resolving data mismatches and performance bottlenecks in real-time.
• Develop and optimize backend services within AWS, ensuring media object lookups and SQL-based audits are lightning-fast.
• Work as a technical partner to newsroom stakeholders, translating fast-moving editorial needs into reliable software solutions.

Requirements

• Upper-intermediate to fluent speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on Backend/Platform Engineer experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on Python experience.
• 2+ years of full-time hands-on SQL experience.
• 2+ years of experience on Broadcast, Streaming, or Media.
• 2+ years of full-time hands-on MAM experience.
• 2+ years of full-time hands-on AWS experience.
• Direct experience with Media Asset Management systems (AVID is highly preferred).

Nice to have

• Experience with AVID APIs or AXF metadata structures.
• Experience modernizing legacy media workflows into cloud-native architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated ability.
