What you will do

• Design and develop state-of-the-art Ranking algorithms and NLP models to define product ordering.
• Deeply explore vast datasets (user behavior, catalog metadata) to identify opportunities for personalization.
• Own the A/B testing framework for ranking and search logic, analyzing results for causal impact.
• Build and validate high-quality model prototypes in Python, collaborating with MLEs for production readiness.
• Partner with MLEs and the Catalog Team to ensure model compatibility and define feature requirements.
• Stay updated with scientific advancements in Information Retrieval and Machine Learning.

Requirements

• A graduate in Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science, Computer Vision, or NLP.
• Solid understanding of Learning to Rank (e.g., LambdaMART, RankNet) and Information Retrieval techniques.
• Deep expertise in the search domain, including traditional methods (BM25) and modern Deep Learning approaches (Transformers, Sequence Modeling, Bi-Encoders).
• Strong expertise in Python for Data Science (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow, PySpark).
• Able to query and analyze complex data using SQL and big data stores (BigQuery, ADLS, Spark SQL).
• Comfortable writing clean code that can be easily handed off to MLEs.

Nice to have

• Experienced in microservices (FastAPI/Flask).
• Experienced in Elasticsearch or Solr.
