Operations & Risk Manager (Digital Assets) — Montes Auri
We are looking for an Operations & Risk Manager to own the day-to-day operational controls of our crypto-banking product.This is a hands-on role: you will review and approve payments, check clients, monitor alerts, keep records clean, and make sure issues are spotted early and handled fast. You will work closely with Compliance, but your responsibility is operational delivery and control, not policy setting.
What you will do
• Own daily operational controls across crypto and fiat activity (transfers, withdrawals, settlements), ensuring disciplined approvals, strong dual control, and consistent execution quality.
• Ensure operational effectiveness of client due diligence processes: KYC/KYB workflows, documentation standards, review cycles, and evidence retention are applied consistently and remain audit- and regulator-ready.
• Maintain a robust operational monitoring framework: queues, thresholds, alerts, escalation paths, and exception handling are clearly structured, consistently followed, and periodically reviewed.
• Maintain high-quality operational records and audit trails so that every approval, exception, and decision is traceable, justified, and defensible.
• Lead the handling of operational incidents and control breaches: investigate root causes, coordinate resolution, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Produce structured operational and risk reporting (daily/weekly/monthly), including reconciliations, key risk indicators, incident tracking, and transparency on operational health.
• Continuously strengthen the control environment: formalise procedures, introduce checklists and limits, improve segregation of duties, and reduce reliance on manual work.
• Partner closely with Compliance, Product, and Technology to ensure workflows remain aligned with regulatory expectations while staying practical for daily operations.
• Act as the operational point of contact for external partners (banks, custodians, FX providers, vendors) on control, process, and execution topics.
What we expect
• Experience in operations / risk / AML / payments in fintech, banking, or digital assets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high responsibility and strict deadlines.
• Good understanding of AML/CTF basics: risk scoring, transaction monitoring, red flags, escalation.
• Strong writing skills for clear notes, reports, and internal process documentation.
• Confidence working with spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets) and operational reconciliations.
• Solid working English, written and spoken.
• Calm problem-solving approach: ability to investigate issues, find root causes, and keep situations under control.
Nice to have
• Experience with KYT or blockchain analytics tools (e.g. Chainalysis) and Travel Rule workflows.
• Familiarity with MiCA / CASP obligations and audit-ready reporting.
• Hands-on experience with Fireblocks operations (policies, approvals, transaction lifecycle).
• Experience building internal controls: limits, dual control, exception handling.
