Engineering Manager (Platform Engineering)

Engineering Manager (Platform Engineering): Leading and mentoring cloud infrastructure and developer productivity teams to build scalable, reliable platform services and tooling with an accent on vision, strategy, and delivery of fault-tolerant applications at scale. Focus on developing observability services, streamlining work across departments, and organizing platform initiatives using agile methodologies.

Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Berlin, Germany). Must be based in Germany or be able to relocate to Germany. Opportunity to work from abroad for 10 days per year.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and support Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Productivity engineering teams.
• Influence vision, strategy, and delivery of platform services and tooling for fault-tolerant applications.
• Develop and integrate observability services to provide insights into applications.
• Collaborate with technical lead and product manager on internal platform vision and strategy.
• Streamline work across various engineering departments.
• Organize and own successful delivery of platform initiatives using agile methodologies.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience building, leading, and nurturing software engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of core distributed systems concepts (fault-tolerance, consistency, rate-limiting).
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining foundational cloud infrastructure based on AWS.
• Experience managing compute workloads with EKS, ECS, Lambda, Fargate.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools like Datadog, incident.io, and ELK.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to drive problem-solving and productivity.
• English: B2 required.

• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or Python.
