What you will do
- Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse QA organization for the Distro team, including functional testers, QA analysts, programmers, and SDETs.
- Own the Distro Quality Strategy, ensuring QA engagement throughout the full development and release lifecycle.
- Drive prioritization and execution, balancing competing priorities and external requests to prevent bottlenecks.
- Guide release readiness, collaborating with programming, product, and stakeholder teams to determine test scope and acceptable risk.
- Communicate clearly across teams and stakeholders regarding priority shifts, risk trade-offs, and release decisions.
- Remain technically capable and hands-on when required, supporting testing or releases and engaging with QA programmers and developers.
Requirements
- Proven senior experience leading QA teams with mixed skill sets and seniority, including technical and non-technical contributors.
- Strong understanding of testing and releasing both backend services and distributable applications, including APIs and client-facing software.
- Exceptional prioritization and operational judgment in fast-paced environments with low tolerance for risk.
- Experience supporting release management activities, making informed decisions on test scope and risk acceptance.
- Solid technical foundation in modern QA practices, including test automation, CI/CD integration, and quality metrics.
- Strong communication skills, able to clearly explain priority shifts, risks, and trade-offs to various teams.
