Technical Manager (Software)

Technical Manager (Software): Responsible for developing and managing high-performing software engineering teams to create enterprise platforms and consumer web applications using DEVSECOPS and Agile principles. With an accent on optimizing engineering and product development processes. Focus on ensuring high standards of technical development including observability, stability, scalability, security, performance, and cost effectiveness while guiding the team on modern software development best practices.

Location: Onsite in Arlington, United States

What you will do

• Provide management, coaching, and mentorship to maximize team health, effectiveness, and career growth.
• Partner with product and other teams to plan and develop roadmaps for maximum impact.
• Ensure high standards of technical development for observability, stability, scalability, security, performance, and cost effectiveness.
• Guide the team on modern software development best practices and technical direction while providing hands-on development.
• Successfully estimate and deliver large projects and architectural implementations.
• Ensure adherence to established budgets for hosting, software, and consulting expenditures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, software engineering, technical writing, or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development or commensurate skills.
• Experience developing enterprise platforms and/or consumer web applications using Agile and Lean methodologies.
• Team leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing software development lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Serverless, event-driven architecture, microservices, JavaScript, Node.js, Java or Python, and frameworks such as React or VUE.js.
• Knowledge of data systems including SQL/RDB, NoSQL, and messaging queues.
• Working experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
