What you will do

• Manage and monitor Mailchimp’s database infrastructure in colocation facilities and the cloud (AWS, GCP).
• Work cross-functionally with hirify.global teams to provide guidance on data storage best practices and solve customer problems.
• Improve database performance and resiliency with product developers.
• Support the migration of databases from colocation facilities to the cloud.
• Perform regular upgrades and patches to address security vulnerabilities.
• Serve in an on-call rotation supporting the database infrastructure and responding to production incidents.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud services, databases, and datastores such as Amazon RDS, Spanner, CloudSQL, Postgresql, and/or MySQL.
• Experience with cloud technologies including AWS or GCP.
• Strong scripting experience in multiple languages such as shell, PHP, Python, or Golang.
• Experience with database architecture, design, replication, clustering, HA/DR.
• Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Puppet, GitHub, and RunDeck.
• Experience with modern technologies and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
