TL;DR

Senior Frontend Engineer: Leading UI development on an operational and regulatory team, focusing on building modular, reusable components and scalable frontend applications. Focus on architectural considerations, non-functional requirements, and solving cross-platform inconsistencies.

Location: Hybrid (Manchester, UK) – minimum 50% of working time per month in the office. New team members will have an initial full-time in-office period.

What you will do

  • Lead UI development on the Operational and Regulatory team.
  • Guide and mentor the team in designing and delivering high-quality products.
  • Consider architectural and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with others through pair programming.

Requirements

  • Expertise in building modular, reusable components and libraries for frontend Single Page Applications with Angular/React/VueJs.
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript (ES5 spec and up).
  • Experience with structuring and writing unit tests, and setting up and writing end-to-end tests using Cypress.
  • Knowledge of general frontend tooling (particularly Nodejs and npm).
  • Experience and interest in RxJS, and awareness of common frontend styling paradigms (eg: CSS modules, CSS in JS).
  • Practical experience of solving inconsistency across multiple platforms, e.g. IE6/7/8, FireFox and Safari on Windows or Mac.
  • Awareness of AWS, CI/CD, and principles behind highly performing web pages, along with good knowledge of Web APIs.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • E-commerce and/or financial services experience.
