What you will do

• Contribute to the product process from end-to-end, from ideation to deployment.
• Build intuitive and performant web interfaces for business owners in Africa.
• Implement IT security and data protection best practices in a regulated environment.
• Proactively drive architectural decisions to improve scalability, observability, and modularity.
• Champion code quality through robust testing, documentation, and reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional growth.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of web development, frontend and backend best practices (TypeScript, React, NextJS, NodeJS, Express, PostgreSQL).
• Experience working on VC-backed or high-growth startup engineering projects.
• Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment with high pace and ambiguity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical discussions.
• Care about the mission of solving problems faced by African businesses.
• Based in London or Paris.

Nice to have

• Speak French.
• Experience in Fintech, payments, wallets, or building ledgers.
• Expertise in security and data protection best practices in an FCA regulated business.
