3D Character Supervisor (Animation): Overseeing the creation and delivery of high-quality character assets for animation projects with an accent on maintaining artistic and technical standards across modelling, texturing, shading, grooming, and character FX. Focus on guiding asset teams, collaborating with rigging, and troubleshooting technical challenges in the full character creation pipeline.

Location: Must be based in Madrid, Spain. Spanish locals & Europeans open to relocation to Spain will be given priority. This is a hybrid position, with two days a week remotely and two extra days per month.

What you will do

• Supervise and mentor character asset teams across modelling, texturing, shading, grooming, and character FX.
• Ensure character assets meet artistic, technical, and performance requirements for animation.
• Collaborate with Rigging and other departments to optimize models for animation and integrate assets efficiently into the pipeline.
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to character asset creation and workflow.
• Participate in review sessions and coordinate with production to ensure quality control and timely delivery.
• Develop and document asset workflows and best practices to improve production efficiency.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead-level 3D character position.
• Strong artistic sense and understanding of form, shape, and structure in character creation.
• Expertise in 3D modelling (topology, UV mapping), texturing, shading, and material creation.
• Extensive experience with hair/fur grooming and cloth simulation (CFX).
• Proficiency with industry-standard tools: Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Katana, Houdini, XGen, Yeti, Arnold, Redshift, RenderMan.
• Fluent in English and/or Spanish.
• Eligible to work in Spain/Europe.
