Lighting Technical Artist (Animation)

TL;DR

Lighting Technical Artist (Animation): Assisting the lighting department in resolving input issues, tracking tickets, testing new tools and iterating with TDs with an accent on optimizing department procedures. Focus on providing technical support, debugging issues and collaborating with other team members.

What you will do

• Give technical support to the assigned departments.
• Debug issues with key inputs & outputs (e.g., Farm errors, HDAs, internal tools, publishing processes).
• Optimize department procedures and document technical workflows.
• Attend technical meetings and keep updated on new studio/department tools, pipelines, workflows, etc.
• Keep up on current technology trends and tools.
• Collaborate with other team members, TAs of other departments and the TDs when necessary.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.
• At least 1 year of experience in the animation industry.
• Strong technical aptitude related to 3D animation is a must.
• Knowledge of some 3D animation areas (Modeling, Surfacing, Animation, Lighting).
• Experience with Houdini and Solaris.
• Experience with USD files.

Nice to have

• Python and VEX experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of Renderman is a plus.
• Linux knowledge is a plus.
• Medium-High English level desirable.
• Spanish desirable.
