CFX Artist (Maya/nCloth)

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (hybrid); candidates must be open to relocating to Sydney, with no remote opportunities. Roles are expected to start in January 2027.

hirify.global is an independent animation studio producing family-focused 2D and 3D feature films and television series.

What you will do

• Run character FX and simulations, including cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, and muscle effects.
• Use Maya and nCloth for cloth simulation and develop suitable approaches for effects challenges.
• Troubleshoot production simulations, apply revisions from Supervisor and client feedback, and deliver final shots.
• Model shots and clean existing character-related simulations.
• Add secondary motion and additional simulation to assets such as hair clumps and hero feathers.
• Support animation pipeline principles, departmental dependencies, productivity, deadlines, and final quality.

Requirements

• Experience working as a CFX Artist on character-related FX and simulations.
• In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of Maya and nCloth.
• Experience programming or scripting with Python, MEL, and/or C++.
• Ability to develop techniques and processes for rigging production challenges.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with VFX Supervisors and Leads.
• Open to relocating to Sydney, Australia; remote work is not available.

• Experience with Houdini.
