TL;DR

Location: Remote, requires overlapping with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours

What you will do

  • Implement systematic approaches for assessing needs in crisis-affected populations.
  • Incorporate diverse humanitarian data sources, including novel ones, into GD’s targeting systems.
  • Provide clear targeting analysis with relevant subpopulations and visualize data on maps and dashboards.
  • Generate recipient lists for emergency cash programs and provide analysis for preparedness and response deployments.
  • Monitor global risks and crises, providing analysis for activation decisions and integrating data from humanitarian agencies.
  • Participate in product development, conduct agile iterative experiments, and define success metrics for targeting tools.

Requirements

  • Exceptional alignment with hirify.global values and active demonstration of core competencies (emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity).
  • 3-5+ years experience conducting humanitarian needs analysis, assessing vulnerabilities, interpreting crisis data, and applying frameworks (e.g., IPC, MIRA).
  • 2+ years of experience producing actionable data tools, with a track record of providing humanitarian information products to decision makers and operational teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement reusable analysis approaches that scale across multiple contexts.
  • High technical fluency across data analytics and data science to ask the right questions and shape complex data challenges into operationally viable strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Prior field experience in humanitarian response or international social protection programs.
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy frameworks in sensitive contexts.
  • Comfort working in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience in geospatial data analysis and knowledge of applications for GIS in humanitarian response.
  • Experience using generative AI for decision support.
