TL;DR
Backend Engineer (Fintech): Building event-driven solutions and democratizing data access across technology teams with an accent on cloud-native data and event streaming solutions, and safely replacing legacy workflows with event-driven architecture. Focus on full software lifecycle management, mentoring other engineers, and continuous improvement in a fast-moving environment.
Location: Hybrid in Manchester, UK. Minimum of 50% of working time per month in the office. New team members will initially work full-time in the office.

What you will do
- Build solutions that democratize access to data and events.
- Be responsible for the full software lifecycle.
- Deliver solutions in collaboration with Business Analysts and users in a complex and fast-moving environment.
- Mentor other engineers and agile teams to industrialize innovation.
- Engage in continuous improvement, refinement, and refactoring of solutions.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing services and APIs using C# and/or Java.
- Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with secure development practices and Git-based source control.
- Knowledge of CI automation systems such as Jenkins.
- Proficiency in Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with event streaming (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and change data capture (CDC).
- Knowledge of messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, SQS), Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with solution and architecture design and Test-driven development (TDD).
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (ECS, EKS, CodePipeline, RDS, CloudWatch).
- Previous experience working in e-commerce and/or financial services.
- Experience using GenAI tools, such as GitHub Copilot.
