Tech Lead, Infrastructure

TL;DR

Tech Lead, Infrastructure (Backend): Leading a team scaling the distributed systems running hirify.global’s web framework, ensuring high availability and performance for larger customers. Focus on anticipating scaling challenges and planning work for the team to solve those problems, closely collaborating with other backend infrastructure teams.

Location: This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Salary: $248,000 - $316,000

What you will do

• Work with other engineering leaders to set an ambitious roadmap for a team of 5-7 backend engineers.
• Design and implement reliable, performant, and scalable distributed systems backing hirify.global’s webservers and Developer API.
• Improve and evolve how we schedule, run, and manage our asynchronous task queue.
• Lead large projects with other backend engineers through all stages of development.
• Mentor other engineers on the team on project leadership and system design principles.
• Collaborate closely with other infrastructure teams to define how user data in the Work Graph is accessed.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience building and operating reliable backend services, with 3+ years of experience leading projects and initiatives.
• Experience setting direction for and leading large initiatives (spanning across multiple teams, and perhaps organizations).
• A passion for mentoring other engineers to help them create and maintain production-quality infrastructure.
• Skilled at communicating technical concepts and constraints to cross-functional partners in product and sales.
• Experience managing Node.js services in production.
• Familiar with infrastructure-as-code and container orchestration technologies like Terraform and Kubernetes.
