Business Data Solution Architect (Data): Defining reference architectures and shaping end-to-end data platform designs for data platforms, pipelines, models, and products across regions with an accent on embedding RBAC, data classification, lineage, observability, privacy, and compliance by default. Focus on data foundations that support analytics/ML use cases relevant to energy retail, such as pricing, churn, metering, billing, and customer ops.

Location: Essen, Hannover, München, Hamburg, Germany. Hybrid work model with office collaboration. Workation for up to 20 days per year within Europe is possible.

What you will do

• Define reference architectures, standards, and SLAs for data platforms, pipelines, models, and products across regions.
• Shape end-to-end data platform designs (batch & streaming) that are secure, reliable, and cost-aware.
• Embed RBAC, data classification, lineage, observability, privacy, and compliance by default.
• Review designs, troubleshoot issues, and run architecture support with regional teams.
• Ensure data foundations support analytics/ML use cases relevant to energy retail (pricing, churn, metering, billing, customer ops).

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data engineering/architecture for large or multi-team environments.
• CS/IT degree or equivalent.
• Hands-on with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric) on Azure and/or AWS.
• Skilled in orchestration tools: ADF, Airflow, Databricks Workflows, Fabric Pipelines.
• Practical experience with streaming (events, CDC, messaging).
• CI/CD & IaC for data/ML (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Azure DevOps; Terraform/Bicep/CloudFormation); familiarity with MLOps.
• Strong in enterprise data governance, privacy, and security (RBAC, classification, encryption, policies).
• Effective communicator across varying organizational maturity; fluent English skills (German skills are a plus).
