Network Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Network Engineer: Monitoring, diagnosing, and reporting issues within Bauer’s networks and improving/evolving them for the future with an accent on problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Focus on ensuring infrastructure availability, resolving performance bottlenecks in complex systems, and driving performance optimisations.

Location: Hybrid in Manchester, Peterborough, or London, UK

What you will do

• Ensure the availability of infrastructure and back-office related services.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, escalate, and notify issues for all networking related products/hardware.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in complex systems and drive performance optimisations.
• Produce procedural documentation for use by IT and customers.
• Handle and assist in solving escalated customer/business and technical issues.
• Liaise with other analysts or team members to share and develop ideas, and co-ordinate project input.

Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of Cisco hardware including Switches, Firewalls and Routers (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, ASR, ASA).
• Excellent knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls.
• Highly experienced working with Cisco IOS, VLANs, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP in resilient, high-availability environments.
• Experience with Meraki or similar wireless systems.
• Experience with WAN technologies including point-to-point links and MPLS.
• Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
• Experience in a multi-site, similar sized multiple lines of business company.
