Senior Backend Software Engineer, Api Client (Nodejs)

TL;DR

Senior Backend Software Engineer (NodeJS): Building resilient backend infrastructure to underpin the API client, focusing on executing code, orchestrating local runtimes, and providing observability. Focus on ensuring reliability, performance, and observability in distributed team settings.

Location: Must be based out of San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Bangalore, Hyderabad, London, or New York, with expectation to come into the office 3 days a week.

Salary: $210,000 to $240,000 plus a competitive equity package.

What you will do

• Contribute to the development of the infrastructure that powers API calls within hirify.global.
• Build, maintain, and scale distributed systems in production environments.
• Ensure observability, reliability, and performance of backend systems.
• Navigate and improve legacy codebases.
• Work closely with team members to build a product experience.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong foundation in Node.js and/or Golang.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana, and modern CI/CD infrastructure.
• Experience building, maintaining, and scaling distributed systems in production environments.
• Passion for observability, reliability, and performance.
• Strong communication skills, especially in async and distributed team settings.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with distributed tracing tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
• Knowledge of CRDTs, real-time systems, or collaborative libraries and technologies like yjs.
• Past experience in developer tools or API platforms.
