TL;DR
Database Support Engineer (PostgreSQL): Provide technical support to customers experiencing database and platform issues, troubleshooting and optimizing PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB performance across a full technology stack. Location: Remote. This role requires working an evening weekend shift (Friday-Monday, 2:30 pm - 12:30 am Brazil Standard Time).

What you will do
- Provide technical support to customers experiencing database and platform issues, translating complex concepts into actionable guidance.
- Troubleshoot and optimize PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB performance issues, including query optimization, indexing, and execution plans.
- Implement database solutions, utilizing TimescaleDB features like hypertables, compression strategies, and continuous aggregates.
- Investigate and resolve issues across the full stack, from application layer to database internals, including cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with internal Solutions, Customer Delivery, and Engineering teams for complex issue resolution and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to platform improvements based on real-world customer needs and leverage AI to accelerate work.
Requirements
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plans, and database internals.
- Proficiency in CLI and SQL expertise, including complex queries, window functions, and CTEs.
- Experience with performance analysis, reading logs, metrics, and identifying bottlenecks.
- Familiarity or experience with TimescaleDB or other relational databases.
- Background in customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to learn quickly across diverse technical domains.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS/Azure services and cloud architecture.
- Understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, pods, and resource management.
- Browser DevTools debugging for diagnosing frontend and API issues.
