Network Systems Engineer

TL;DR

Network Systems Engineer: Collaborating with the support team to deliver proactive automation and troubleshoot technical issues across hirify.global's IT environment with an accent on maintaining and developing a geographically dispersed WAN and LAN. Focus on identifying and delivering IT projects, planning and configuring network solutions, and troubleshooting Cisco networking platforms.

Location: Hybrid, working from Oxford headquarters. Must have permanent right to work in the UK. Relocation package to the UK is available.

What you will do

• Lead investigation and resolution of higher-level IT issues, guiding junior support members.
• Identify, develop, and deliver IT projects to enhance systems and processes.
• Maintain and develop geographically dispersed WAN and LAN for efficient and stable studio environments.
• Plan, build, and configure network solutions for the hirify.global group.
• Perform out-of-hours work when necessary to minimize business downtime.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking platforms (IOS, NXOS, FTD/FMC, ISE, WLC, AnyConnect/Secure Client).
• Practical experience with routing and WAN technologies (OSPF/BGP, NAT, enterprise WAN like DWDM).
• Solid understanding of modern network architectures (hub-and-spoke, VXLAN EVPN).
• Hands-on experience with network security practices (segmentation, ACLs, 802.1x).
• Familiarity with monitoring platforms (PRTG, SolarWinds).
• Proven professional experience in end-user or systems support in a production environment.
• Knowledge of and experience supporting VoIP telephone systems.
• Permanent right to work in the UK is required.

Nice to have

• Prior Systems Administrator experience in the Games or Film industries.
• Cisco certifications (or other vendor equivalents) and experience with multiple network vendors.
• Python skills for network automation and tooling.
• Experience with cloud platforms and services (Azure, AWS).
• Configuration and administration experience with FreeBSD, ZFS, FreeNAS or similar.
• Familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as VMWare or XenServer.
• Experience working in a software development environment, including administering version control and supporting CI/CD workflows.
