TL;DR

Software Engineer II (AI): Developing global-scale streaming & AI infrastructure for the Microsoft Ads business with an accent on advertiser-facing APIs and large-scale data ingestion. Focus on using Machine Learning and AI to detect and improve ad quality, and optimizing code for performance and cost.

Location: Must live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. and work from the office at least four days per week.

Salary: USD $100,600 – $199,000 per year (USD $131,400 – $215,400 per year in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)

What you will do

• Enhance and operate Product Ads cloud infrastructures on Azure.
• Design, implement, experiment, and ship new business features to enhance existing and new ad products.
• Use Machine Learning and AI to detect and improve ads quality.
• Optimize code and evolve architectures to maximize performance and minimize cost.
• Dive deep into data to find key insights that drive technical design and feature roadmaps.
• Work directly with customers to resolve escalations and live site issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience OR equivalent experience.
• Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate between diverse remote teams.
• Experience in online advertising systems, information retrieval systems, web search systems, big data processing pipelines, database applications, large-scale internet applications, and/or distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of OOD, data structure, algorithm, big data processing, data streaming, information retrieval, machine learning, web crawling, document understanding and AB testing knowledge.
• Experience working with .NET, NoSQL, Azure, Python, Click house, AKS.
• Familiar with software development cycle and Agile development practice.
