TL;DR

Gameplay Animator (Game Art): Creating impactful first-person and enemy animations for combat experiences with an accent on FPP character rigs and animation logic implementation. Focus on designing and maintaining animation state machines and improving overall character animation quality.

Location: Stockholm, Sweden (hybrid, 4 days in office per week with 1 day remote option). Onboarding is fully in the office.

What you will do

  • Create impactful animations for a first-person experience, collaborating closely with game designers and programmers.
  • Animate first-person character rigs, including weapon handling and combat movements.
  • Design and implement animation logic, such as state machines and blend trees.
  • Find creative solutions to animation challenges and improve character animation quality.
  • Estimate workload and efficiently plan animation tasks to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • More than 3 years of experience animating in the games industry, with a heavy focus on first-person gameplay animations.
  • Strong skills in hand key animation.
  • Expert proficiency in Autodesk MotionBuilder, Maya, or similar animation software.
  • Great understanding of animation rigs and experience with animation state machines.
  • Possess a problem-solving mentality and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

  • Experience in other areas of game development.
  • Experience working with full body characters, using both motion capture and hand-key animation.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Experience working with inhouse tech and collaborating with tools and engine developers.
  • Experience in Unreal Engine 5.
