Technical Animator (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Technical Animator (Gamedev): Contributing to top-quality animation for characters and buildings in a new mobile gaming project with an accent on defining and maintaining character models and animation pipelines. Focus on implementing character models and animations into the game and setting up animation state machines and blend trees.

Location: Fully remote, welcoming applications from candidates across North America, Latin America, and Canada.

What you will do

• Collaborate with artists, designers, and engineers to ensure top-quality animation for characters and buildings.
• Source and produce character animation for game features.
• Define, manage, and maintain character models and animation pipelines.
• Coordinate with outsourcers to ensure high-quality models and textures.
• Implement character models and animations into the game.
• Setup animation state machines, blend trees, etc.

Requirements

• Background in art or design with degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Industry-proven, with at least 2 shipped PC or console titles.
• Comfortable with technical complexity and creative problem-solving.
• Able to work autonomously in a distributed team.
• Strong communicator, thriving in remote collaboration.
• Intermediate animation skills with keen sense of motion, timing, and anatomy.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Unity3D: asset pipelines, Unity Animation System, Animancer etc.
• Familiarity with Unity’s Universal Rendering Pipeline (URP)
• Experience with animation workflows (rigging, retargeting, integration).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
