Technical Program Manager (Emergency Cash)

TL;DR

Technical Program Manager (Emergency Cash): Builds and manages technology for rapid cash assistance in crises with an accent on data collection, verification, payments, and monitoring systems. Focus on translating emergency response needs into technical requirements, coordinating cross-functional teams, and improving global readiness through tool enhancements.

Location: Fully remote, but must overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours. We are unable to sponsor employment visas in the U.S. or U.K. at this time.

Salary: The United States base salary for this role is $99,000. The Kenya base salary for this role is $61,900.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end technical program delivery for emergency responses, including scoping, requirements, system configuration, and QA.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, and Operations to align systems with programmatic objectives and ensure field functionality.
• Manage technical training and onboarding for surge staff and partners.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation, deployment guides, and incident-response protocols.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to develop roadmaps, prioritize improvements, and enhance scalability and reliability.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks in high-risk operating environments, including connectivity, data loss, fraud, and system misuse.

Requirements

• Exceptional alignment with hirify.global Values and core competencies (emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity).
• 5+ years of professional experience in relevant fields (e.g., technical program management, product management, data analytics, software engineering, international development, emergency response).
• Experience managing timelines, operational risk, stakeholders, and complex deliverables across multiple workstreams.
• Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous settings, balancing speed, risk, and quality.
• Experience owning technical decisions and evaluating novel technologies, system designs, and risks.
• Working proficiency with a programming or statistical language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, Java, Apex).
• Fluency in English is required.
