TL;DR

Technical Design Manager (Architecture): Leading a team to design and deliver end-to-end technology solutions for BT's diverse customer base with an accent on turning business requirements into robust, right-first-time solutions. Focus on managing complex change, ensuring governance adherence, and fostering team growth and development.

Location: Hybrid in the UK (Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds), with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

What you will do

  • Lead the end-to-end technical solution design and delivery for customer projects.
  • Be accountable for delivering solutions to time, cost, and quality, adhering to design and delivery standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of Technical Designers, ensuring resource fulfillment and managing risks.
  • Drive team growth through career progression and manage performance and well-being.
  • Act as a product or service Subject Matter Expert (SME) and train design squads.

Requirements

  • Around 10 years of deep, hands-on technology expertise.
  • Confident in leading high-value engagements (£10M+) and managing large teams (15+ designers).
  • Strong customer-first approach, aligning solutions to deliver real value.
  • Skilled in commercial discussions and problem-solving across the customer journey.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to engage at all levels, including C-level executives.
  • Expertise in mapping, managing, and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable with a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
