TL;DR

Solution Architect: Designing and enhancing the bank's telephony channel and development ecosystem with an accent on DevOps standard methodologies, large-scale implementations, and integration with digital channels. Focus on leading future telephony strategy, incorporating cloud-native technologies, and evolving to a full micro-service application.

Location: Hybrid working in Manchester, requiring at least two days or 40% of time at the Manchester office.

Salary: £70,929 – £85,000 per annum

• Design, develop, and enhance the bank's telephony channel.
• Create and deliver the development ecosystem through DevOps standard methodologies.
• Collaborate with software, quality, and security engineers in cross-functional environments.
• Lead the future telephony strategy, incorporating emerging technologies and closer integration with digital channels.
• Drive continuous improvement by transitioning to cloud-native technologies and evolving to a full micro-service application.

Requirements

• Systems Thinking & Architecture: Ability to model complex systems, apply design and implementation patterns, and build scalable, secure, and resilient solution architectures, including writing high & low-level design documents.
• Technical Breadth and Depth: Ability to operate at varying levels of detail across the product landscape and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Leadership & Mentoring: Responsibility for implementing formal development frameworks and informally coaching/mentoring others.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in cloud platforms, enterprise software, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies such as AI.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to assess business needs, identify gaps, and deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.
• Business Acumen: Understanding of financial services operations and aligning technology strategies with business goals.

Nice to have

• Experience with DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including automation, CI/CD, and enabling technologies.
• Knowledge of quality assurance practices.
• Practical knowledge of containerisation, release orchestration & platform engineering.
