Responsible AI Lead (AI Engineering): Leading and evolving telephony and digital AI platforms with an accent on agentic AI services, cloud-native architecture, and regulated environment compliance. Focus on designing, building, and running AI Agents on Google Cloud, ensuring safety, security, scalability, and technical leadership across multiple teams.

What you will do

• Define strategy and technical direction for agentic AI services, collaborating with engineering, product, and architecture teams.
• Lead, develop, and coach multiple teams fostering a high-performance and inclusive engineering culture.
• Design and deliver AI Agents using Google Cloud services such as Vertex AI, Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and more.
• Implement CI/CD, automated testing, performance testing, SRE practices, and observability for quality and efficiency.
• Engineer for safety, security, and cost-effectiveness by applying guardrails, model evaluations, secrets management, and FinOps.
• Lead full lifecycle management ensuring resilience, scalability, and operability of AI solutions.

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid with mandatory presence in Manchester office at least 40% of the time
• Proficiency in Java, Python, and TypeScript with experience in production services on GCP.
• Proven technical leadership of large multi-team deliveries with architectural decision-making.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI, LLM-powered applications, prompt and safety engineering.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native engineering, containers, Terraform, CI/CD, automated QA, and observability.
• Experience with security, privacy, and compliance in regulated environments, collaborating with Risk, Security, and Legal teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vertex AI Agent Builder, LangGraph, multi-agent patterns, or agent-to-agent protocols.
• Knowledge of data governance and model risk in financial services.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS, or cross-cloud patterns.
• Experience building engineering communities and guilds.
