Senior Software Engineer (Fintech): Developing and improving backend microservices and RESTful APIs for a Loans & Affordability Platform in a hybrid work environment. Focus on building high-quality, well-tested backend systems using Java, SpringBoot, and cloud technologies with an accent on microservice architecture, containerization, and agile delivery.

Location: Hybrid work with 40% onsite presence in Chester or Manchester, United Kingdom

What you will do

Design, build, test, and support backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused software solutions.
Ensure high code quality and engineering best practices aligned with transformation strategy.
Coach and support other engineers to foster growth and skill development.
Work within an agile team using Kanban, Jira, and Confluence.

Requirements

Location: Must be able to work hybrid with presence in Chester or Manchester offices
Strong experience with Java 17+, Spring Framework, and SpringBoot microservices.
Experience with containerized services such as Kubernetes and cloud platforms preferably GCP.
Good understanding of database design and software development lifecycle.
Ability to produce well-tested, robust code and work with CI/CD pipelines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and coaching.

Nice to have

Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, DevOps tooling like Harness, and Quarkus framework.
