Only Good Games is a new independent studio working on a dark sci-fi AA action-adventure title. We are looking for a Founding Technical Director to act as the technical pillar of the studio, owning Unreal Engine 5 architecture and technical direction from early prototype through full production. This is a rare opportunity to shape technology, team, and culture from day one in a well-funded early-stage studio.

🚀 Responsibilities
• Act as the founding technical lead for the studio
• Own Unreal Engine 5 architecture and technical direction end-to-end
• Build and evolve core gameplay systems using C++ as the primary language
• Define and enforce best practices for performance, tooling, pipelines, and code quality
• Collaborate closely with creative leadership, design, and art
• Hire, onboard, and mentor engineers as the team grows
• Make pragmatic technical decisions suited to a small, high-calibre team

📚 Required Skills
• Deep hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5
• Strong C++ background with gameplay and engine-level systems
• Experience shipping commercial titles or equivalent senior engine experience
• Excellent understanding of gameplay architecture, systems design, and performance
• Ability to own and defend technical decisions in a small studio environment
• Clear and confident communicator

👍 Nice to Have
• Experience working in startups or early-stage studios
• Previous leadership or technical director experience
• Passion for sci-fi or action-adventure games
