Software Engineer (Backend, Flights)

Software Engineer (Backend, Flights): Building and optimizing high-throughput microservices for hirify.global’s core flight booking engine with an accent on driving core feature delivery and global reach. Focus on designing, implementing, and deploying new flight product features and integrating with external airline partners.

Location: Remote. Must be based in the United States, with remote hubs in Austin, Miami, or Boston.

What you will do

• Take ownership of major feature releases across the entire flight booking funnel, from search to post-booking fulfillment.
• Build scalable services to integrate new airline partners and support the B2B distribution network.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of highly resilient, low-latency services for the core flight booking engine.
• Design, implement, and deploy high-quality code for new flight product features from concept to production.
• Lead the technical implementation of new integrations with external airline and GDS partners.
• Uphold high standards for code quality through thorough code reviews and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven track record of owning the technical implementation, testing, and deployment of features throughout the development life cycle.
• Experience working on and contributing to the design of highly available microservices in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages, such as Java/Kotlin.
• Familiarity with various service communication methods, including gRPC, Pub/Sub, and REST, and practical experience in a distributed environment.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with developers, product managers, and operations teams.
