Application Support Engineer

Application Support Engineer (System Engineering): Configuring, maintaining, and optimizing monitoring systems and Linux environments for critical IT services in an enterprise setting with an accent on stability, security, and automation. Focus on supporting Java applications, Oracle DB queries, and collaborating with development and security teams in a hybrid on-site/remote model in Switzerland.

Location: Hybrid in Agno (Lugano), Switzerland with office presence required 4 days/week

Salary: CHF 65,000–75,000 gross annually

What you will do

• Design, configure, and maintain monitoring and alerting systems (Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace).
• Manage and harden Linux environments including firewall and certificate management.
• Develop automation solutions for diagnostics and monitoring tasks.
• Support and troubleshoot Java-based applications using Spring Boot and Maven.
• Query and analyze Oracle database data for monitoring insights.
• Collaborate with internal client teams on incident response and root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in Italian and English.
• Must be Swiss citizen, resident, or Schengen EU citizen eligible for cross-border work.
• Strong Linux system administration skills including firewall and certificate handling.
• Experience with Splunk, Grafana, and Bash scripting for automation.
• Good understanding of Java, Spring Boot, Maven, and Oracle DB querying.
• Analytical mindset and structured troubleshooting approach.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansible and Ansible Tower.
• Familiarity with SAML, OAuth/OIDC, SOAP protocols.
• Exposure to Jenkins, Kafka, Docker, and Argo CD.
• Knowledge of Nevis proxy and mod_qos.
• Architectural awareness of secure and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in German is a plus.
