Backend Engineer

What you will do

• Design, implement, and iterate on scalable, secure, and highly available backend services
• Own and operate distributed microservices for payments, checkout, orders, and subscriptions
• Diagnose and resolve production issues involving latency, concurrency, and distributed systems
• Take end-to-end ownership of services including metrics, monitoring, logging, and alerting
• Collaborate with product and programming teams globally to define milestones and deliver features
• Refactor and improve existing services for performance, scalability, and maintainability

Requirements

• Location: Must be onsite in Cary, United States
• 5+ years experience building and running production backend systems
• Expert-level Java and Spring Boot knowledge
• Experience with microservices, REST API design, and AWS infrastructure
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines

• Background in eCommerce, especially payments, checkout, or subscription systems
