What you will do

• Design, implement, and iterate on scalable, secure, and highly available backend services
• Own and operate distributed microservices in payments, checkout, orders, and subscriptions domains
• Diagnose and resolve production issues related to latency, concurrency, and distributed systems
• Define, review, and improve service metrics, monitoring, logging, and alerting
• Collaborate with global product and programming teams across time zones
• Refactor and improve existing services for performance and maintainability

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Vancouver, Canada (onsite)
• 5+ years experience building and running production backend systems
• Expert-level Java and Spring Boot knowledge
• Experience with microservices, REST API design, and AWS services
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with authentication mechanisms like OAuth, OpenID, JWT

Nice to have

• Background in eCommerce, especially payments, checkout, or subscription systems
