Backend Engineer

What you will do

• Build and own backend services within a global microservices architecture using Scala and functional programming
• Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile developers, test engineers, and product managers in cross-functional squads
• Participate in the transition to an event-driven architecture using Kafka
• Work with AWS, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker under a "you build it you run it" principle
• Apply TDD and peer review to ensure resilient and frequent releases
• Contribute to a learning culture with personal development plans and knowledge sharing

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid work in London with minimum 2-3 days in office per week depending on level
• English: B2 level or higher required
• Experience with Scala and functional programming
• Knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, and Kafka
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and take ownership of projects
