Salary: Colorado/California (outside Bay Area)/Washington: $190,000 - $286,000 total target cash. New York City/California (San Francisco Bay Area): $212,000 - $319,000 total target cash.

What you will do

• Drive end-to-end delivery of cross-team initiatives to measurably improve data quality, reliability, and developer velocity.
• Create clarity and shape technical strategy by defining technical direction, standards, and reusable tools.
• Uphold operational excellence by defining and raising SLOs, owning instrumentation, alerting, and incident response.
• Lead efforts to scale systems and performance, improving throughput, reducing latency, and hardening critical paths.
• Build foundations for trusted data, including a shared data health evaluation framework, APIs, and metadata ingestion.
• Mentor and multiply other engineers through design reviews, thoughtful code reviews, and coaching.

Requirements

• Staff-level impact in backend engineering with a track record of owning cross-team systems in distributed, microservices architectures.
• Strong backend proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js and/or Python.
• Production experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK).
• Experience defining/measuring SLOs, building CI/CD pipelines, and applying observability and automated testing.
• Ability to translate customer and account team signals into technical strategy and sequenced delivery.

Nice to have

• Domain experience in event analytics, data governance/taxonomy, metadata systems, RBAC/privacy, experimentation, or AI-assisted automation.
