Information Security Governance Intern

TL;DR

Information Security Governance Intern: Supporting day-to-day governance operations related to policies, standards, and security requirements with an accent on data collection, risk analysis, and documentation. Focus on participating in core ISG practices and engaging with business partners to securely enable the business.

Location: Hybrid in Foster City, CA. Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship.

Salary: $5,500–$7,500 per month.

What you will do

• Support governance operations for policies, standards, and security requirements.
• Assist in collecting and managing data to report on Information Security program effectiveness.
• Help compose reports and draft or improve information security documentation.
• Participate in core ISG practices like Policies & Standards, Risk Management, and Security Awareness & Training.
• Engage with business partners to gather input and learn how to securely enable the business.

Requirements

• Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or advanced degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Good academic standing and able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026.
• At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project in a relevant area.
• Basic understanding of information security frameworks such as NIST 800-53, NIST-CSF, ISO 27001, and CIS controls.
• Fundamental knowledge of risk management, security, and privacy practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with administration and operation of GRC tools.
• Classroom or project exposure to SOC2 and Trust Service Criteria assessments.
