What you will do

• Lead technical discussions and implement backend solutions using infrastructure as code
• Prototype and develop reusable components and write automated tests
• Perform code reviews and maintain technical documentation
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver high-quality APIs and services
• Provide leadership, education, and mentoring to junior colleagues

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid work with minimum 40% time in Edinburgh office
• Experience in backend software engineering with Java and Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Spanner DB
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and database management (DB2/SQL)
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience

Nice to have

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Experience with Kafka and Dynatrace
• Financial services industry background
• Prior experience leading teams
