What you will do

• Design and build backend services in Java as part of our evolving architecture.
• Work with existing PHP systems where needed, and help shape the path forward.
• Model domains, define boundaries, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Implement clear, maintainable APIs and backend features that serve real user needs.
• Own your work beyond delivery — build pipelines, observability, and production behaviour.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and shared decision-making to improve performance, reliability, and security.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience, ideally in Java (or another strongly typed language with willingness to work in Java).
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals over frameworks.
• Fluency in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts (aggregates, invariants, boundaries, contracts).
• Value-driven mindset, challenging scope, and reducing waste.
• Comfortable owning code in production, from build pipelines to monitoring and iteration.
• Experience with modern engineering practices: version control, CI/CD, containerised development, and cloud environments (AWS ideal).
• Clear, thoughtful communication in a remote-first, async-friendly environment.
